A Blogging Change Plus Words to Inspire

IMG_8618

Hey everyone, the time has come to change things up a bit here on my blog. I’ve been blogging twice weekly since September 2007, and in June 2013 I started posting twice weekly to my Mother of the Bride Blog as well. Since that’s a lot of blog posts to keep up with and since I’ve reached a point where I need to devote more time to other projects (and people—like my grandchildren! :) ), I’ve decided a change is needed.

So from now on, I’ll post weekly—generally on Tuesdays—on both of my blogs. I won’t officially have Midweek Morsel posts anymore, but some of my weekly posts may resemble the Midweek Morsel posts of the past. I like the variety that shorter posts offer in the midst of some longer ones. And sometimes a short post is exactly what you—or I—need at a given time.

One thing that I hope doesn’t change is that you’ll always find refreshment, nourishment, and inspiration here. When you leave here, I want you to feel encouraged in some way. If we keep our eyes on the Lord together, that’s sure to happen, right?

So be encouraged today my friends with this Inspiration acrostic. May God use it to bless you indeed!

In God we find our strength and hope.

Nothing is too difficult for my God to handle.

Silence can soothe and energize so step back and soak it in.

Prayer and peace go hand in hand so give your worries to God.

Indeed my God loves me and stands ready to help me.

Refresh your spirit in the boundless beauty of God’s creation.

Alter your attitude to turn your day around.

Thankful hearts provide the perfect soil for joy to grow.

Invest in people and make a difference today, tomorrow, and forever.

One small act of kindness can be the first ripple of a day—or a life—redeemed.

Never underestimate the power of a smile.

“Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man’s behalf.” Psalm 66:5

Rustic Wedding Idea: Boot Bouquets

16438351264_2f6df96206_z

Mother of the Bride, are you and your sweet daughter looking for great rustic wedding ideas? Well, you’ve come to the right place today. I adore the idea pictured above, and I bet your soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. will, too!

Using boots to hold bouquets and other floral arrangements at a rustic wedding adds a special touch that takes your wedding décor up to a whole new level of awesome. So creative, appealing, and memorable! And I love the pop of color when a bandana is added—but you certainly don’t have to do that. These floral displays will look great either way.

Boot bouquets could be used as guest table centerpieces or at other locations in your venue where you want to decorate with flowers. Boots could even be placed in strategic places to display the bridesmaids bouquets during the reception. Can’t beat using the bridesmaids bouquets a second time, right? Just tell each maid which boot you want her to place her bouquet in after the ceremony and photos.

Feel like kicking up your heels over this idea, MOB? Go ahead—and be sure to yell yee-haw while you do it!

Hey Mothers of the Bride, I’m taking an extended Spring Break blogging break but will be back two weeks from today on March 28th. Sometimes I’m so busy over spring break that it’s much like that age old dilemma of needing a vacation to recover from vacation. So doggone it, I’m going to do it. I’m going to extend my blogging break to two weeks. Makes sense to me—and I’m sure it makes sense to you, too. MOBs know all about busy times!

In the meantime, I am going to leave you with some great help—links to my favorite Pinterest pinners of all things wedding (see links below.) I follow some of the wedding related boards of these folks myself on Pinterest, and I guarantee if you give them a look, you’ll find some amazing ideas. Why not give them a look?

And of course, if you haven’t checked out my wedding-related Pinterest boards, be sure to do that, too. I currently have eighteen boards pertaining to weddings as well as several personal interest boards. You might even find a few of those that interest you!

So MOB, Happy Spring Break to me and Happy Pinning to you! See you back here on March 28th!

Table Décor for Rustic Weddings

11189382995_dcccd621b4_z

Mother of the Bride, if a rustic wedding is in your daughter’s future, have either of you given any thought yet to style-appropriate table décor? Your decision might be influenced by whether or not the reception will be indoors or outdoors or whether the theme is more specific to ranching, farming, a throwback to the Old West, or just country living in general.

The mason-jar-with-flowers idea shown above is simple yet adorable and could fit in well with a variety of rustic weddings. Simply start with a mason jar, add a swatch of burlap and ribbon around the middle, tie off a twine bow at the top, and fill the jar with some simple and inexpensive baby’s breath and another flower in one of the wedding colors. The result? Super cute, easy to make, and budget friendly as well. Can’t beat that, huh?

So MOB, if rustic is the order of your upcoming big day, share this great idea with your little bride-to-be daughter and see if she’d like to use it for her table centerpieces or as table (or stump!) décor or as accent pieces in other places. These cute mason jars will be sure to add a touch of beauty however they’re used!
