Dream Sharing

With the arrival of the New Year, have you allowed yourself a few minutes yet to think about your dreams for the coming months? Most folks consider what their goals may be, but I think dreams have an added dimension, a depth of emotion, that business-like goals may lack. Dreams hold a piece of our hearts.

One of my dreams this year is to give our daughter Kelli and our son-in-law-to-be Jake a wonderful wedding celebration — and memory — they will treasure for the rest of their lives. I can think of several specific goals I need to work towards in order to bring that about, but the overarching dream, the desire of my heart, is to bless them. Yes, my heart is stamped all over this dream.

I have other dreams, too, and though not all can be shared publicly, I can share them with God. And so can you. He knows us, and He knows our dreams. The psalmist David said, “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar… Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.” (Psalm 139:1-2, 4)

I can think of no one better than God with whom to share our dreams. Have you talked to Him about yours lately? If not, take a few minutes for a dream sharing session with our Heavenly Father — and if you have time, leave a comment and share a dream that your heart is stamped all over. Let’s give the phrase “Dream Team” a whole new meaning!

“…pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8b

  1. I just shared yesterday about a “new thing” – a dream – that’s coming to fruition. I’d love for you to hear about it!

So happy for your daughter…what joy!

    Hugs,

  2. I’ve been working on my goals but, alas, I’ve neglected the “dream” part, Cheryl. Thank you for reminding me.

I do have a dream that I’ve had for more than five years now–to see my picture books in gorgeous color luring children in to reading and laughing and dreaming.

    Maybe this year…

  3. What a great post, Cheryl! I’ve got a dream brewing, but it’s hard to put into words at the moment. I’ll have to ponder it some more and come back. (and I’ll likely blog myself about it, too!) I do have an overall ‘life goal’ -to get more fit and try to ‘balance’ my life out better…for me, at the moment, one is tightly related to the other! (Details to come!)

I love how you want to bless your kids’ wedding. That’s a special time that so many people these days put so much focus on the pomp-and-cirucmstance and forget to ‘take it all in’. I don’t remember alot of details of my own. It’s kind of a blur…and there was no alcohol involved! I was just taken with everything being ‘right’, and then rushing thru the reception so we could get on the road to our honeymoon that I didn’t relish the moment. And I regret that. Maybe we’ll have to have a do-over sometime! Anyway, remind the bride of that!

  4. It IS wonderful God not only know our dreams but wants to make them come true as well!

May all your dreams become reality in 2010.

    Blessings!

  5. Actually, I’ve talked with him a lot about my dreams; in fact, I’ve asked him to stoke the fires of those dreams as many of them seem to be but dying embers at this point.

I know the wedding will be blessed because your heart is so willing to give it your all. Keep us posted on the details and any pictures to go with!

    Blessings to you, Cheryl.
