Answered Prayer—A Double Blessing!

Isn’t it just like God to answer our long-time prayers and deepest desires with a double blessing?

That’s exactly what he’s done where our daughter Kristin and son-in-law Shawn are concerned. Many of you have stood with us in prayer for a long time now (thank you!), asking God to bless them with a baby. And when God answered, he answered in a big way—with twin boys!

Last fall my “Prisoner of Hope” post featured this scripture from Zechariah 9:12: “Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” And then God did it. As our family—his prisoners of hope—returned to him time and again with our cries for mercy, he did it. He gave twice as much as we dreamed. How we thank him! How we praise him!

So allow me now to introduce our grandsons—Isaiah Dean (held by Kristin) and James Logan (held by Shawn). They are without a doubt two of the most beautiful gifts our family has ever been given. Their middle names are family names, but their first names were chosen because of scriptures dear to Kristin’s and Shawn’s hearts (Isaiah 41:10 and 40:28-31 and James 1:12 and 1:17).

The long wait is over. God has answered our prayers. Rejoice with us, won’t you? And be encouraged for any wait you may be enduring. The blessing is on the way!

“. . .weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

  1. Blessings heaped up, pressed down! And heaped again …

Congratulations. They are two beautiful boys. Isn’t it exciting thinking what God may have in store for them?

So happy for all of you. God is so good. Grandchildren are truly one of Gods greatest blessings.

    • Thanks so much, Debbie. We are in awe of the blessing God had in mind for our family all along. We just had to wait a while to see it come to pass. And then wow — what a gift he lavished on us all!

Looks like just Debbie’s are commenting on this post. :) Anyway, have been waiting along time for this kind of announcement. I knew God had something special up his sleeve. :)

    • Isn’t that funny — Debbies only so far :) Appreciate you standing with us in prayer all these years, Debbie. We should have known that God would do something grand! How he has blessed our family, huh?!

  4. Congratulations, what a great looking pair of boys!
(Sorry to break the “Debbie” run :) )

  5. WOOHOO!! Yay, thank you, God! I am so thrilled with you, Cheryl, and for your family. May your daughter in law heal quickly, may they get sleep, and be strengthened during this low-sleep period, but what a treat to savor these two new babies!

    • Thanks so much, Jennifer! Kristin (our daughter, not daughter-in-law) said the babies are doing great and things are going really well so far. Looking forward to being able to be with them this weekend!

  6. Cheryl, I forgot to ask you if they are identical. All babies look alike to me (calm down, all you moms out there – I imagine all kittens look alike to you) so I can’t tell!

  7. SO cute :)

  8. Made me smile….Mom and Dad probably don’t realize that “this” is the way it will be for several weeks…one awake while the other sleeps ….sweet photo.
Also, thanks for the “refresher” …. The “tag” wording was what I thought I needed to give to others correctly. Looking forward to other photos from your visit with James and Isaiah.
    Aunt Norma

    • Norma, right now they are pretty much sleeping at the same time because all they’re doing is eating and sleeping. That will soon change, though, won’t it? :) I’ve told Kristin and Shawn to treasure this time and soak up every minute of it! :)

  9. I love Zechariah 9:12 and how precious the way Isaiah is looking at James. So many good experiences to come! So proud of you all. Enjoy and be blessed double!

  10. Congratulations, Cheryl. What a beautiful and blessed family. Your grandsons are precious. And now the fun begins….. I remember those sleepless days and nights after I brought my triplets home. Parenting multiples is a joyful challenge. Here’s hoping these little angels will be sleeping through the night in no time at all. :)

    • Thank you so much, Mairead! We are all over-the-moon happy. You said it so well when you said that parenting multiples is a joyful challenge. There is indeed so much joy — and so much challenge as well! :)
