Cool Cash for a Hot Date Giveaway!

Anyone thinking about Valentine’s Day yet? With February almost upon us, allow me to start the Valentine’s Day fun with a little giveaway designed to get you out of the house with your special guy or gal. Could any of you use some cool cash (though not a stack of it like above!) for a hot date about now? I thought so :)

Because I’m in the mood to play Cupid this year, I will give $25 cash (or check or Visa cash card) to one lucky commenter. I’ve got my arrow poised and ready. Now all you’ve got to do is get in the line of fire :)

To enter this super fun Cool Cash for a Hot Date Giveaway, leave a comment on this post by noon (CST) February 12 to be included in the drawing. If I don’t know you personally or can’t contact you via your own blog, you must include your email address in your comment to be eligible for the giveaway.

If you have time for some fun, tell me in your comment about one of the best dates you’ve ever had. I’ll go with something fairly recent so I don’t have to strain my brain too much :) My husband and I love to go to the movies, but last fall we saw a live comedy show (a gift from our daughter Kristin and her husband Shawn). We LOVED it. Now I’m thinking we may have to change our date-night destination from the movie house to the stage a little more often! :)

As we think about dates with the ones we love, let’s remember to make special dates with the Lover of our souls as well. Let’s spend time with Jesus, the One who gave His very life so we could have fellowship with Him. Lots of best dates are on the horizon with Him!

“[Jesus] said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'” Mark 6:31b

  1. The best date I ever had was my first date with my husband. It was a blind date and I definitely had butterflies. But somehow I knew he was the ONE at first sight. That was 17 years ago and here we are 3 kids later.

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  2. Uhhhhh, it’s been a million years since we’ve had a date that wasn’t the eat and watch a movie kind!

Once when we were dating, hubby picked me up from work one very cold night (at like midnight when I got off) and drove me to a hotel–I was a little leery!!!!!!! (not sure I can put enough exclamation points there :) But we went to the top floor because they had floor to ceiling windows because he knew there was a lunar eclipse. So we sat down in this hotel hallway’s 20th floor watching the eclipse until like 2am talking. Pretty darn good date.

  3. Shawn takes me on the best dates! I have tons of memories. He took me to my first major concert (Coldplay) and my first major league baseball came (Houston Astros).

  4. Probably my first date with Billy. We went to Logan’s Road House, smashed peanuts on the floor and went back to my house for my homemade KY Derby Pie.

The beginning of my next 15 years!

  5. John and I took a night to go to a bookstore and sit and brainstorm a book we would write if we wrote one. (We are in the process of doing this but won’t complete it for years. :0) ) It was so much fun and enlightening, too. :0)

I would have to say our first date, more than 40 years ago! We met at a Young Life meeting but never talked directly. After calling around he discovered my last name & then started calling all those in the phone book close to where someone thought I lived, until he found me! And I turned him down on his first try (had another date) but we finally found a mutual date & it was instant love right from the start. However, I didn’t know his last name, only that his first one was “Gary” so all evening I tried to figure creative ways to ask him without admitting my failure to ask earlier. He teases me saying that he asked me to marry him & I accepted, then asked, “Oh, by the way, what is your last name?” Didn’t happen quite that way but almost – 6 weeks later we were engaged. And interestingly enough, he took me to see my first James Bond movie that night – “Diamonds are Forever”!! God MUST have a sense of humor!

  7. Cheryl you are being extra generous. We had a special date not too long ago when we went to PF Changs and then to see the South Pacific Broadway musical. What made it even better the tickets were a gift.

  8. I love dates with my husband when we can browse antique shops and grab a little lunch somewhere. It’s just nice to spend time together with no agenda.

  9. Probably the picnic Jake set up for me before proposing.

  10. The best time in recent memory was an unexpected little adventure. It was a dark night in a place with no electricity, and it involved a 4-wheeler pulling a wagon, lit by a mouth-held flashlight and crossing a narrow bridge over a stream. Oh, and i was wearing a dress, and clutching my laptop for dear life.

I guess we are just a bit unorthodox for anything that qualifies as an actual “date”!

  11. Hi Cheryl,

Regarding your comment, thank you. That’s so encouraging.

For the date… we recently enjoyed sneaking away to a half price sushi bar and trying new flavors there. It was fun to be daring together and to hold hands across the table. My man. :)

    What a fun giveaway.

  12. OOOOOH! A handful of date night cash? What a great giveaway!

One of my favorite and most memorable date nights was my first anniversary with my hubby. We didn’t have much moeny at all. So, before he got home from work, I made homemade pizzas (using english muffins and pizza quick) and made us chocolate milk. Oh yeah… and we ate it all by candlelight in our rented home.

I have never forgotten that. I hope I never do. :)

  13. I don’t know if this went through…
My favorite “date” was two nights at a Bed & Breakfast in Big Bear here in California. It’s a great place, summer and winter!

  14. Our anniversary date last February was a funny one, we went to Tulsa to do some shopping and then eat, on the way home we got on a wrong street and got lost, this was well after dark. We ended up in a part of town that we had never seen before. Robert said, “just like 55 years ago, we didn’t know where we were going”.

  15. It’s been too long to think back, but every Wednesday is our date night. It’s nothing fancy, just dinner out, but it’s so nice just to get out of the house and reconnect without kids to interrupt!

  16. Best date ever…Budg and I went to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary and every day was like a date. But my favorite day was the tour of the waterfalls. We brought along a picnic lunch and toured all of the waterfalls and had such a lovely day. We ended up in the Garden of Eden. It was one of my best days ever.
