"Back At It" Giveaway 2!!

Can anyone guess what mid-August means here on the blog? It means it’s time to say good-bye to Summer Photo Fun and for me to get busy concentrating once more on “refreshing spirits and nourishing souls”—though I’m guessing the photo fun helped refresh your spirits occasionally, too :)

Even so, it’s time for me to get back to more focused writing now that Don’s vacation weeks are behind us, and we slip back into our normal routine. Like last year, I thought it would be fun to get back into gear with a little giveaway. Since sequels can sometimes be lots of fun, how about another “Back At It” Giveaway?

I’ll offer a $15 Barnes & Noble gift card to one lucky commenter once again. Nothing like a new book, journal, or notebook to get back into the spirit of books, writing, school, and learning, huh? To be entered in the drawing, leave a comment on this post by noon (CST) Aug. 28th. If I don’t know you personally or cannot contact you via your own blog, be sure to leave your email address in your comment or you won’t be eligible for the drawing.

To add to the fun, tell me one of your favorite memories from this summer. For me, it has to be our family vacation to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park. Don’t ask me to narrow it down to just one memory from that special week, though. Too many great ones to decide on just one. Suffice it to say, it was a week I’ll never forget. One I will treasure always.

How about you? What will you remember fondly from the summer of 2011? Can’t wait to hear about it!

“Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.” Psalm 40:5

  1. No one else has commented yet…if I type real fast, maybe I’ll be the first. I really enjoyed seeing all my sisters this summer, which doesn’t always happen with one living quite a ways away. If I can count May as part of the summer, I’d also put my daughter’s graduation from high school as a favorite.

  2. I loved going to Colorado this summer. I also loved my birthday weekend in June, when Shawn made me an orange cake and took me out to lunch and a movie. 4th of July weekend was also a highlight because we saw some dear friends/former neighbors, both sets of our parents, plus went back to our college campus and met up with some college friends!!

  3. Love how you all can’t stop with just listing one favorite memory. Makes me want to list antoher, too! :) I also loved getting together with all of my sisters at Mom & Dad’s this summer. As Janice said, it doesn’t happen often so we all love it when it does.

Keep the fun summer happenings coming! :)

  4. We loved our whitewater rafting trip in colorado this summer. Also, so happy to see the sisters all at once. Anniversary weekend in Branson, always good to have a weekend with just your husband. Kristin, I am sad we didn’t make the highlight cut on your 4th of July memories. We loved seeing you!

  5. Carolyn, our visit with your family was definitely a highlight of our trip! I was thinking about it in my head, and then got distracted with another project while I wrote my comment :) We had so much fun visiting you guys – it’s nice to have some “one-on-one” time with part of the family away from the big family group like we did with you guys. I can’t wait til we can do it again!

  6. So glad you guys are not limiting it to one because I have three I would like to mention. First, was our road trip from Arizona to Florida which was a first. Second was my spur of the moment trip to Missouri to see my sisters and parents and third was going to Disneyland with my granddaughters. :)

  7. fun! but how to limit it to one memory? I love summer and everything about it. My favorite part of my summer has been having both of my boys home with me. I’m dreading the start of kindergarten, I love having my little guy with me!

  8. One of my fondest memories from these past few months has been the writing odyssey I’ve been on… a project in the works. One of my least favorite memories has been the unrelenting heat. I’m ready for the cool and crisp of fall!

  9. We’ve been having a great summer as a family with a lot of great day trips and lots of time to “just be.” I don’t think I can choose just one moment.

  10. Cheryl, my favorite memory of the summer was taking my daughters & grandchildren to visit a working sheep farm that is also a Christian ministry. In spite of the heat, God gave us a very pleasant day for the trip & the kids loved seeing all the parts of the farm. Wish the sheep hadn’t been out under the trees seeking the shade so we could have seen more of them close up, but I didn’t blame them. Hearing all about the Good Shepherd & seeing all the plants from the Bible in the Bible Garden was also neat. The kids loved it & my daughters thought it was such a unique “field trip”, well worth the time! Really made my summer to get to be with all 5 kiddos & my 2as well!

  11. My youngest son’s high school graduation and party. We saw lots of friends and family. Lots of great food and fun!

  12. I loved going to my first Speaker/Writer Conference this summer. I also loved all of the little day trips and moments with my kids and hubby. But you’re right…it’s time to refocus and get busy once again! We are on the countdown: School starts for us in five days…

  13. I’ve loved seeing your pictures and am grateful your blog helped me connect with Janice! Our summer included some sweet moments with family during a three week vacation in the Pacific Northwest, Kansas/Nebraska and Texas. From the heat of Texas to the cool of the Northwest, from air plane to rental car, and from nuclear family to my 40th High School Reunion – it was a wonderful vacation!

  14. This is Debbie Peters Smith – just wanted you to know who posted.

  15. The highlight of my summer was my baby daughter got married. It was such a beautiful wedding and a gorgeous day.
Also my oldest daughter and son in law and our 2 year old granddaughter moved back to the area where my son in-law got a teaching job. So they are leaving with us for the time being until they get there home built.

  16. This has been a busy summer for us. Our daughter got married and moved to Oklahoma in July. The next week, our son graduated from military school and the next week he moved his family to El Paso, TX because he is stationed at Fort Bliss. So all of our grandkids have left us, as well as our kids, and we really have an Empty Nest!

  17. My summer highlights include surprises – we surprised Brett and Mary Yohn by appearing at a dinner with friends, then recently surprised my brother, Steve for his birthday dinner last week. Those surprises were so much fun!
