It’s June! Is it bustin’ out all over in your life? :) It is in mine — I’m just getting back from our family reunion (more on that later in the week) but thought I would kick off the summer with a giveaway designed to help you stay cool and be refreshed when July rolls around.
Sometimes when the heat is on, you’ve just gotta find something to do inside! Would a $10 Blockbuster gift card help? Pick out a couple of new releases or a few old favorites, crank up the AC, grab a drink, some popcorn and M&Ms, and relax. Like the scripture says, “…Come home…and refresh thyself.” (1 Kings 13:7 KJV).
To be included in the drawing for the gift card, leave a comment on this post by midnight June 24 (CST). That way I can get the prize to the winner in time for the searing hot month of July. Just tell me one of your all-time favorite movies or the name of the last movie you saw. Be sure and leave your email address if I don’t know you personally, or you’ll be disqualified since I won’t know how to reach you.
I’ll kick it off. One of my all-time favorite movies is White Christmas. You can’t get much cooler than that! :) C’mon and join the fun. Refresh thyself! :)

One of my all time favorites is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
[singing] “When Cameron was in Egypt’s land… let my Cameron go!”
Much to family’s dismay, my favorite movie has to be Grease! I just love that show, but my family is not so crazy about it. And I definitely watch it with popcorn and M & M’s!!!!! YUM!
One of my favorites is White Christmas also! Other favorites are Singin’ in the Rain and While You Were Sleeping.
Popcorn and M&M’s is one of my favorite snack combos for movies!
There is no way I could pick one favorite – love too many. One, out of the set, though, would probably have to be Monty Python & the Holy Grail. Andrea bought this for me for Father’s Day a few years ago. Sports a DVD menu in Dolby 5.1 surround sound and the movie in sterling mono :-)
“Sisters, Sisters. There were never such devoted sisters.” White Christmas is defintely my all time favorite. Carolyn
Hi, Cheryl,
Some of my favorites are the Toy Story movies. They bring back memories of my children being young, and the movies are both funny and touching.
My email addy is joyce.taron@gmail.com.
Thank you. :)
Hey all, this is fun! I love hearing about your favorite movies! Sounds like White Christmas must run in my family’s blood :) I knew it was one of Kristin’s favorites, but, Carolyn, I didn’t realize it was one of your faves, too.
Kinda funny — the gals are going for musicals and sweet comedies so far, but the guys humor choices go a slightly different direction :) Why am I not surprised? :)
I just saw the new Indiana Jones movies. But… as for favorites, I just love Father of the Bride.
It’s a toss-up between “Good Will Hunting” and “Runaway Bride”, for very different reasons. Most recently viewed flick: “Finding Forrester”.
referencing Chandi’s comment:
[Connery’s Scottish accent] “You’re the man now dawg!”
Sarah & Chandi, good to hear from you! I love both of the bride movies you’ve mentioned :)
And Shawn, you’re so funny — singing in your first comment and talking like Sean Connery in your second one. Thanks for adding to the fun!
I love /White Christmas/, too. But I also love some newer chick flicks like /You’ve Got Mail/ and /Sleepless in Seattle/ and /While You Were Sleeping/. Have you ever watched /Walking in the Clouds/?
Blessings,
Jean

Jean, I, too, love While You Were Sleeping. Those off the wall conversations they have around their dinner table reminds me of our own family. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Walking in the Clouds. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I go to Blockbuster this summer!
One of my favorite movies is My Best Friend’s Wedding. It always makes me laugh. I also like the classics Mac and Me and Mountain Family Robinson :)
One of my favorites is “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart–a classic oldie.
Newer favs- How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey, Sleepless in Seattle , the National Lampoon Vacation movies with Chevy Chase–(they’re beyond soo goofy…..).
“Christmas Story” with Ralphie & the Red Ryder BB Gun.- worthy of mention.
One of Dennis’s favorites is “O, Brother, Where Art Thou” & I think “Bridge over River Kwai”- he’s a WWII movie buff.
Yea, Shawn, love that Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, too!!!
My Best Friend’s Wedding and Runaway Bride are at the top of my list too!
For those of you that might be checking the comments to get summer movie ideas, be warned that you probably won’t care for Kelli’s suggestion of Mac & Me :) We just happen to like it because it was a childhood favorite! But if you really need some goofy laughs, check it out.
or just watch E.T. instead
Kelli, another bride movie fan, huh? I’m not sure anyone else would want to watch Mac & Me or Mountain Family Robinson for that matter :)
Teri, I think The Christmas Story is one of Don’s favorites, too :)
Everybody likes White Christmas, and Kelli I really like My Best Friend’s Wedding too. But I think I like LadyHawke even better.
Janice, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen LadyHawke. Sounds like it’s worth checking out again…
I have a lot of favorites, but you just can’t beat a good comedy. I always get a kick out of “Summer Vacation” with Chevy Chase (the censored version of course.) My favorite part is when they are all asleep in the car at night, including Chevy, and they run off the road and land in the hotel parking lot. The way they shot that segment is absolutely hilarious!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Blessings,
Nancy
Nancy, thanks for the Chevy Chase memory :) I can hear the theme song now :)
