A Blogging Change Plus a Bridal Veil to Consider

Mother of the Bride, now that I’ve got lots of great help for you in my blog archives, I’m going to cut back on my new posts just a bit. I’ve been blogging twice weekly here on my Mother of the Bride Blog since June 2013 and have also been posting twice weekly on my inspirational blog for an even longer period—since September 2007. Since that’s a lot of blog posts to keep up with and since I’ve reached a point where I need to devote more time to other projects (and people—like my grandchildren! :) ), I’ve decided a change is needed.

So from now on, I’ll post weekly—generally on Tuesdays—here and also on my inspirational blog. Remember, you can find a storehouse of ideas and help in my archives. Just click on the drop-down menu to see the titles of posts that interest you or use the search feature above to look for posts by topic.

And now on to a beauty of an idea for your daughter to consider as she plans her bridal attire—a cathedral veil! A cathedral veil might not go with every gown or style of wedding, but if it might work with your daughter’s, be sure and ask her to consider it. So elegant and beautiful. And just think of all the great photos—before the wedding (as in the shot above) and during the ceremony itself. Plus, a cathedral veil must make a bride feel like a queen for a day, don’t you think?

So, MOB, give your sweet girl a royal pep talk and see if she’ll go for a cathedral veil. Then you can be the queen mother! :)

Rustic Wedding Idea: Boot Bouquets

16438351264_2f6df96206_z

Mother of the Bride, are you and your sweet daughter looking for great rustic wedding ideas? Well, you’ve come to the right place today. I adore the idea pictured above, and I bet your soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. will, too!

Using boots to hold bouquets and other floral arrangements at a rustic wedding adds a special touch that takes your wedding décor up to a whole new level of awesome. So creative, appealing, and memorable! And I love the pop of color when a bandana is added—but you certainly don’t have to do that. These floral displays will look great either way.

Boot bouquets could be used as guest table centerpieces or at other locations in your venue where you want to decorate with flowers. Boots could even be placed in strategic places to display the bridesmaids bouquets during the reception. Can’t beat using the bridesmaids bouquets a second time, right? Just tell each maid which boot you want her to place her bouquet in after the ceremony and photos.

Feel like kicking up your heels over this idea, MOB? Go ahead—and be sure to yell yee-haw while you do it!

Most Important Part of the Bride’s Attire

DSC_7032

Mother of the Bride, your daughter’s attire on her big dream-come-true day will most likely be of prime importance to you both and will take center shopping stage until every piece of it is selected and properly rejoiced over. Just the right gown tops the list, with a perfectly complementing veil and/or headpiece not far behind. Finding gorgeous shoes and deciding on jewelry are also important decisions. Even undergarments get special attention.

But the most important part of her attire on Wedding Day—the thing that will really shine—is love. The love she has for her groom shining in her eyes and on her face will be the thing that makes her truly beautiful. Oh, her attire will certainly add to her beauty, but it will be her loving expressions that the groom and everyone else will remember from that special day. This truth reminds me of a truth expressed in 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible—if we have not love, we are nothing. (my paraphrase)

So MOB, remind your sweet girl to, yes, select her attire carefully and with great joy, but to remember to relax and simply love. Then she will truly shine on her big day. And everyone will rejoice with her—and with you all!

Bridal Accessory: Pearl Drop Earrings

Mother of the Bride, your daughter’s wedding gown is the centerpiece of her attire on wedding day, but her accessories are super important as well. Her veil, headpiece, shoes, and jewelry will all work together to add the finishing touches to the overall gorgeous picture she hopes to present to her groom on their big day.

One excellent choice for bridal earrings is a pearl drop earring. As you can see from the photo above, they are simple yet extremely elegant and look especially striking when the bride is wearing her hair up. As they dangle from the bride’s ears, they also complement the bridal gown by providing a splash of matching color near the bride’s jawline.

Why not check with your daughter, MOB, and see if pearl drop earrings appeal to her. They might provide the perfect look she’s hoping to achieve!

Before-the-Wedding Shot of Colorful Bridal Shoes

Mother of the Bride, is your little bride-to-be one of those brides who wants to make a splash on her wedding day with colorful shoes? If she has made a bold color choice to adorn her tootsies on her big day, here’s a great photo idea to help show them off before she ever puts them on.

Have the photographer document her splash of color in a before-the-wedding shot that will show off not only the shoes but the gown as well. Most photographers take a shot of the dress before the bride dresses on wedding day so just arrange the train in a similar fashion to the photo above. Place her snazzy shoes on the bed of white elegance created by her gown, and there you have it. A perfect photo to highlight one of the fun choices she’s made for her day to remember.

Why not mention this idea to the photographer, MOB? Won’t it be fun to surprise your darling girl with a special shot of her big-day shoes like this? Go on now. Have some fun!
