Wedding Centerpiece: A Watering Can!

Mother of the Bride, if you and your beautiful bride-to-be daughter are looking ahead to a spring or summer (or even fall) wedding and she hasn’t decided on centerpieces for the guest tables yet,  I have an idea that just might catch her decorating fancy.

A watering can centerpiece, like the one shown above, is super cute and could be appropriate for several wedding styles or themes. This unique centerpiece featuring a watering can, flowers, and kerchief (or bandana, depending on your terminology) would be the perfect addition to weddings featuring rustic/country, cowboy/western, or picnic and other casual outdoor themes. As shown above in reds and blues, it could even be a great choice for a Fourth of July wedding.

This adorable centerpiece could be done in a variety of colors, too. Kerchief/bandanas can be found in tons of colors so if you and your daughter can find them in one of her wedding colors, MOB, just start from there and work up. If you can’t find watering cans in one of your daughter’s colors, just go with a standard metallic finish and then tie your colors in with flowers in the wedding colors.

Why not show this creative and fun idea to your darling girl, MOB? Your centerpiece search might just be over!

Fun Wedding Cake Design: A Word Search Cake!

Mother of the Bride, if your daughter is looking for an unusual and fun wedding cake idea, show her this Word Search cake! It’s possible she’s never seen one. I hadn’t until I ran across this photo several years ago.

Just think of all the ways a Word Search cake can be customized to fit the couple. They can have it done in one of the colors of their wedding, their names will make it one of a kind, the other words they choose to have highlighted can be special or memorable to them in some way, and they can also go with a topper and base décor of their choosing if they’d like to add those.

Also, since this may be the first time many of your guests have ever seen a Word Search cake, it’s sure to be a conversation starter. I can almost guarantee that every guest will comment on it as they catch sight of it. By the time the bride and groom arrive at the party, nearly everyone will have made their way over to the cake table to get a closer look.

So MOB, wouldn’t it be fun to show your daughter an idea she’s possibly not seen yet? Go for it with the Word Search cake!

Providing Photo Booth Fun for Wedding Guests

Mother of the Bride, if your darling daughter and her soon-to-be husband are looking to step up the fun element for their wedding guests, how about providing a photo booth at the reception?

Not only would a photo booth provide a diversion while the guests are waiting on the bride and groom to arrive at the reception, but it would offer a fun entertainment addition to the dining and dancing going on later during the party as well. Plus, what a fun memento for your guests to take home as a reminder of the joy of the big event, right?

Having a photo booth on hand would also give your professional photographer another place to capture some great shots of everyone—the wedding party as well as the guests. With the casual and zany atmosphere a photo booth creates, candid shots are sure to abound.

So MOB, why not offer some photo booth fun on the big day? And in the midst of all your responsibilities at the party, don’t forget to jump in and experience some photo fun yourself!

Engagement Photo Session Idea: Bike Fun!

In love and having fun together on a bike—what a great engagement photo idea! Mother of the Bride, if the soon-to-be-married couple in your life loves fun and adventure, suggest a shot like the one above for their engagement photo session. Or maybe the bride could turn around and they could take off on a ride!

With Prince Charming pedaling and your daughter on the handlebars, a variety of shots are sure to unfold. This one with the kiss is priceless. Can’t you just imagine some of the other shots that could transpire? What fun!

MOB, just tell your son-in-law to-be to be extra careful and keep them both safe. No injuries allowed before the wedding!

Wedding Photo: Bridesmaids Blow the Groom a Kiss

Mother of the Bride, add this “blowing a kiss to the groom” wedding shot to your list for the photographer pronto! It will be one of the cutest photos of the day. Photographic magic is bound to happen when your daughter’s bridesmaids are asked to show the groom a little love.

As soon as the bridesmaids are asked to blow the groom a kiss, he will start smiling and blushing—or turn into a Romeo on the spot and eat up the attention like a glowing Adonis. Either way, the results will be wedding-photo gold.

So, MOB, share this idea with your daughter and/or the photographer. He can set it up like the shot above of our son-in-law Jake, or he can get creative and change it up any number of ways. As long as there’s kissing involved, it will be fun, right?
