Bride’s Hair Accessory: Baby’s Breath!

Mother of the Bride, if your daughter has already chosen her gown, chances are she’s now considering hair accessories for her big day. Brides today have lots of options to consider. Veil or no veil, a single flower on the side or a flower crown, a tiara or exquisite barrette or bridal comb?

One inexpensive idea that looks classic, elegant, and oh so feminine, is a simple spray or a crown of baby’s breath. Baby’s breath would beautifully complement almost any wedding gown and would look especially striking against dark hair (as pictured above). I’m sure it would look great with any hair color, though, so don’t rule this idea out if your daughter is a blonde beauty, MOB.

So if your sweet girl is in the throes of bridal hair decisions, Mother of the Bride, mention this idea or shoot her the link to this post. She might just say, “Baby’s breath it is!”

Sash and Brooch Multilayer Wedding Cake

Remember the sash and brooch idea I shared not long ago for bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses? Today I’ve got a new sash and brooch idea for you. One that will adorn another star of the wedding show!

How about a wedding cake that features a sash and brooch on each layer? Isn’t it elegant and classy looking? The sashes above—featuring pleats, no less—are made from frosting, but your baker could also use wide ribbon at the bottom of each layer and then accent with gorgeous brooches. One of the wedding colors could easily be incorporated into the cake that way.

Of course, the sash and brooch idea could be carried over into other elements of the wedding as well if the bride and/or bridesmaids’ dresses featured them, too. It’s always kind of fun to tie various elements of the wedding together.

Think your daughter would like this cake idea, MOB? Check with her. You might get the go-ahead to start brooch shopping!

How about a twist on the more common Wedding Day first dance photos, Mother of the Bride? How about one that shows off the bride’s rings? That’s right, why not highlight the fact that she’s a married woman now. Let the glory of it be recorded for all time!

As the bride slips her arms around her groom’s neck, the photographer can capture the perfect shot—and not only of the rings, but of their love and of the elegance and beauty of their fairy tale day. Her freshly manicured nails and the sparkle of her rings shows up perfectly against his black tux, creating such a rich shot. But more than that, the love shines through without a word in this simple and tender pose.

MOB, why not share this post with the photographer so he or she can be looking for the perfect opportunity to capture a similar shot with your daughter and her beloved? What a sweet surprise it will be for them when they see the photos from their special day!

Wedding Cake Topper Idea: The Tiffany Blue Box

7317426190_555be44065_z

Mother of the Bride, is your daughter making decisions about the wedding cake yet? So much to think about. Along with flavor, type of frosting, and style, decisions will need to be made about the specific design.

One of those design decisions will be what kind of cake topper she would like or what would best complement the design she chooses. Would fresh flowers look best? Would some sort of fun topper work with her cake and match her and her guy’s personality? Or would a classic and elegant topper like a silver monogram or entwined hearts be the perfect choice?

Be sure to add today’s idea—a Tiffany gift box—to the list of possibilities. The world-famous Tiffany jeweler is known for their Tiffany Blue Box so wouldn’t this age-old coveted gift box be a beautiful yet fun topper for a wedding cake?

The example above shows the box propped open with a strand of pearls displayed, but if your daughter has a different idea on how to feature a Tiffany Blue Box as the topper, just have her talk to her baker/designer. Chances are the baker will be able to do whatever she requests.

So MOB, show this idea to your daughter—and maybe even the Father of the Bride. Drop a hint or two and you might just end up with a Tiffany Blue Box yourself!

Accent Bridal or Bridesmaid Sash with a Brooch

3544373981_1e396ca374_zMother of the Bride, here is a gorgeous way to accent a sash worn on Wedding Day—a dazzling brooch! The sash itself, of course, is a beautiful accent, but by adding a brooch, the wow factor is taken up to a whole new level.

A sparkling brooch accent will work well for anyone in the bridal party whose attire includes a sash. Whether it’s the bride, the bridesmaids, or even you, MOB, a beautiful brooch will add a special touch that can perfectly complete the wearer’s ensemble for the day.

A brooch will also provide a keepsake memento from this most special of occasions. It can easily be used with other outfits over the years and be a sweet reminder of a wonderful celebration with people you love. Definitely a win-win when it comes to accessories!

If your daughter has chosen gowns—hers or her maids—with sashes, be sure to show her this idea, MOB. And you might even want to shop for a dress with a sash now for yourself, right?!
