Bridal Shoes That Sparkle

IMG_3695

Mother of the Bride, when it’s time for you and your daughter to shop for her bridal shoes, she may let you know that she wants something other than a traditional white heel. Many brides like to add a touch of color or sparkle or some other unique twist to their wedding day apparel, and their choice of shoes offer the perfect opportunity.

Your little-girl-turned-bride may be among those who want their bridal shoes to sparkle. And that’s not surprising since a sparkly shoe will look both elegant and fun with almost any wedding gown. The Nina “Carmen” heel above found at DSW is just one example. Have your daughter glance through these sparkly bridal shoes on Pinterest for some more ideas.

MOB, it’s fun to live during a fashion time when bridal shoes can be anything from an elegant white heel to a lacy bootie to a bold splash of color to a hand-painted work of art or even a cowboy boot. Have fun considering all the options with your daughter and then kick up your heels as well when it’s party time!

Custom Sneakers for the Bride (and Groom!)

6649827261_db541a146f_z

Mother of the Bride, everything the bride wears on Wedding Day will be noticed—and photographed—and that includes her shoes. Have you discussed the style she’s interested in for the ceremony and formal shots? What about the reception and party? Almost without exception, a more comfortable pair of shoes than her dressy heels will be needed before the dancing is over and she dashes off to her honeymoon.

A great choice of shoes for the reception (or at least after you get past the important photos) is custom sneakers. Not only will they be comfortable and fun, but both the bride and groom can sport them together. And what a cute photo that will make, right?

How do you get sneakers customized? Check the shoe manufacturer’s website to see if they offer a custom shoe service. For example, check this “Design Your Sneakers” page on the Converse website. Also this Etsy page shows all kinds of wedding Converse shoes. You could also try a Google search for custom sneakers to find other possibilities out there.

Run this (pun intended!) past the bride and groom, MOB, and see if custom sneakers strike their wedding-shoe fancy. Go ahead an encourage them to get comfortable and thoroughly enjoy their party—and don’t forget comfy shoes for yourself, too!

Bridal Shoes: The Lacy Look

IMG_3050 - CopyMother of the Bride, once your darling daughter has selected her bridal gown, she’ll soon be shopping for accessories—and that includes the all-important bridal shoes. She may already have some very specific preferences in mind, but if she’s open to suggestions, here’s an option today that you might want to share with her.

Would a lacy-look bridal shoe look good with her gown? I spotted the Dolce by Moho Moxy Flora ankle boot above at Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse recently, but other styles of lacy-look bridal shoes are out there as well. My search for lace bridal shoes on Pinterest turned up a page full of options.

MOB, shoe-shopping is always fun, but I hope you have an extra measure of fun as you and your little-girl-turned-bride look for her Big-Day shoes. Enjoy every second!
