Groom’s Cake Idea: Favorite Team Cake Pops!

7640990984_2f387526ca_z

Mother of the Bride, here’s a fun idea to pass along to the groom for his groom’s cake—cake pops! Now his initial reaction may be those are too girly for me to have for my groom’s cake, but you can quickly reassure him that they don’t have to be.

One way to make cake pops manly enough for the main man on his wedding day is to have them feature his favorite sports team. The photo above doesn’t display cake pops as an entire groom’s cake, but it can give the groom an idea of what it could look like. If he can have baseball (or football or soccer ball, etc.) cake pops intermingled with cake pops featuring the logo/mascot/colors of his favorite team, he might say alrighty then, let’s play ball!

Who knows, he might even come up with his own twist on the cake pop idea once he gets to thinking about sports in general or other things he loves. Tell him to go for it. It’s so much fun when one idea sparks another!

So suggest away, MOB! The groom may love this idea—and he’ll have you to thank for it. One more win for the mother of the bride!

Wedding Cake Design: Graduating Circles

2459564686_a4a1c66b61_z

Mother of the Bride, is it time for you and your daughter to start talking wedding cakes? If so, you’ll find a multitude of choices out there. Of course, your sweet girl may already have some pretty specific ideas about what she wants so that will help in narrowing down the options.

Allow me to throw one more cake design idea into the mix today—graduating circles! Notice how in the example above the circles get larger as each tier of the cake gets bigger. Makes for a striking look, doesn’t it? Very classy and elegant but with a touch of circle-y fun!

The basic circle design could then be complemented by a variety of other design elements. The choices are wide open as to the accents: flowers, bows, butterflies, brooches, etc. And your daughter could incorporate her wedding colors in any way she’d like as well.

MOB, why not show this wedding cake option to your darling bride-to-be? It might provide just the unique design she’s looking for—and she’ll have you to thank for it!

Groom’s Cake for the Pool Shark

247664867_6840c4fdd4_z

Mother of the Bride, cake decisions are among the most fun that await your daughter and her beloved as they plan their wedding. And the groom’s cake decisions are especially fun since the groom gets to let loose and let his personality shine if he so chooses. He may know exactly what he wants or he might ask for ideas. Be prepared for either, MOB.

One way to go is to feature one of the hobbies or special skills of your soon-to-be son-in-law. This can be anything from his favorite sports team to his favorite recreational activity to his career expertise. All ideas are fair game—with the bride’s approval, of course :)

The idea I’m featuring today is for the groom who likes to play pool. He and your sweet girl may not have room for a pool table in their first home together, but he can sure have a pool table groom’s cake if he wants. To make it even more fun, part of his bachelor party could include shooting some pool. Just mention it to the best man or one of the groomsmen and they might surprise the man of the hour with a pool tournament the night before the big day.

This is just one option, MOB. Share it with your sweet couple and let their ideas take off from there!

Winter Wedding Cake Idea: Snowflakes!

11665211356_49329191bc_z

Mother of the Bride, is your daughter planning a winter wedding? If so, you may just now be discussing some of the details that can come a little later in the wedding planning process. Things like wedding favors, send-off options, and possibly even the design of the wedding cake.

If your darling girl hasn’t already decided on her cake’s design, here’s an option to show her—snowflakes! The cake above (or something similar) would be especially perfect if she’s incorporating winter touches in other aspects of the wedding, too. The cake offers a great opportunity to highlight a theme if she so chooses.

The dark background in the cake above really helps set off the snowflakes, but I bet extra sparkly snowflakes or silver snowflakes could look gorgeous as well if your daughter prefers a more traditional white cake. Your cake baker may be able to provide the snowflakes, but if he or she asks you to do that, you should be able to find them at most craft, party, or discount stores.

So MOB, if your baby is planning a “baby, it’s cold outside” kind of wedding, share this cool (hee, hee) idea with her. A snowflake cake can be the crowning touch!

Bridal Shower Gift Idea: A Wedding Towel Cake!

6245381504_6bf4b21a65_z

Mother of the Bride, are you looking for a cute bridal shower gift idea that will also be useful to the new Mr. and Mrs.-to-Be? Well look no further. A wedding towel cake might be just what you’re looking for!

A wedding towel cake as a shower gift has several things going for it. Not only is it a clever and cute idea, but the finished product holds all the visual appeal you need. No gift wrap needed! The towel cake can also be used as a centerpiece if you so desire, and you can go with a variety of colors. You could use the bride’s colors, the colors you’re using at the shower, or the colors the couple has chosen for rooms in their home.

The towel cake above has a bath and body theme, but towel cakes can also feature other themes. Among them might be kitchen, rustic, bride and groom, beach, coffee lovers, or a replica of an elegant wedding cake. You might think of another idea especially fitting for your sweet girl and the new home or region where she’ll be living.

What do you think, MOB? Is this something you could do to make your darling daughter’s shower more memorable? If so, have fun with it—and don’t forget to take photos!
