Wedding Table Décor: Add Pizzazz with Confetti

0297

Mother of the Bride, would you be interested in a simple and inexpensive way to add pizazz to the tabletops at your daughter’s wedding reception? I thought so. I haven’t met an MOB yet who’s not ready to grab hold of a simple and inexpensive idea and run with it!

One of the fastest, simplest, and least expensive ways to add sparkle to the tables at the reception is to scatter a little confetti. There are lots of options to choose from. You can use classic confetti in one of your daughter’s wedding colors, or if she has used a theme of some sort for the big celebration, you might be able to find something that would complement it perfectly. For example, if she has a beach theme, you might be able to find seashell confetti. Of course, many confetti styles are designed especially for weddings so those can be fun, too. We used the tiny little hearts above for my daughter Kristin’s wedding.

If you’re concerned that confetti might not look elegant enough for a wedding, never fear—you  can use confetti and still retain a classic and sophisticated look. Just be sure to use a light touch. Now is not the time to overdo with décor. You want to employ balance as you decorate to achieve the greatest beauty. All it takes is a little confetti scattered here and there to add a little color or sparkle to the myriad of white tablecloths spanning the reception hall.

So, MOB, check with your bride-to-be and see if she’d like to add some pizzazz with confetti. It’s just one more way to make the day—and the party—shine!

New Wedding Cake Trend: The Ombre Cake

Mother of the Bride, if your daughter is looking for a wedding cake that’s a little different, a little less traditional, why not suggest an ombre cake? An ombre cake is characterized by colors fading from one to another on either the frosting or the inside layers of the cake.

If you spend a little time perusing Pinterest, you’ll see that ombre cakes are popular right now for all occasions—weddings included. It may be just what your daughter’s looking for.

The ombre touch is light on the pretty lavender cake pictured above, but more drastic color changes are being done as well. Using unusual colors for wedding cakes may be a little difficult for many of us moms to wrap our minds around, but as with so many other facets of weddings today, things are getting changed up. And when we open our minds to the possibilities, we might just like them!

So, MOB, if your daughter wants to make a colorful splash or go with a more current trend in cakes, consider the ombre cake. Possibilities abound. Have fun considering them all with your sweet girl!

Wedding Shoes Trend: Color Is In!

Mother of the Bride, don’t faint if your daughter announces she wants to wear red or blue or purple shoes with her bridal gown. That’s right, color for wedding shoes is in.

All you need to do is search wedding/bridal topics on Pinterest for a minute or two, and you’ll see right away that brides are popping with color—on their feet! What a fun addition to the wedding wardrobe!

Not only will Pinterest prove the current color-trend in wedding shoes, but I heard it confirmed by Randy Fenoli of “Say Yes to the Dress” on one of Katie’s Wedding Wednesday shows in February. And if Katie gives the go-ahead, it’s got to be okay, right? :)

In addition to the super-fun touch that colorful shoes will provide, your daughter will also end up with some great photos plus a pair of shoes that she can wear long after the wedding is over. You can’t argue with that kind of common sense, can you?

So MOB, toss traditional thinking aside if your daughter wants to jazz up her look on Wedding Day. Let her color it up—her something blue just might be her shoes!
