Wedding Photo Idea: Hideaway Moment

Mother of the Bride, are you on the lookout for wedding photo ideas you can share with the bride and groom? If not, it’s not too late. Today is a great day to get started because I’ve got a super sweet idea to share with you.

The hideaway shot above captures a stolen intimate moment between the newlyweds. Not only will it become a photo they will treasure their entire lives—and I love it in black and white—it will provide them with a precious private moment on the wedding day itself.

Ask the photographer to be on the lookout for a spot similar to the scene above—a place where the groom can pull the bride off to the side for a moment and whisper sweet nothings in her ear or steal a kiss while guests mingle unaware in the background. The stars of the show will be so happy to sneak in some private time like this that they will quickly forget the photographer’s presence and truly delight in the moment.

Include Venue Signs in the Wedding Photos

Sharp ChapelMother of the Bride, many wedding photographers today pride themselves on telling a story with their photos. They make an effort to capture more than the standard shots and provide not only a timeline but the emotions of the big day as well. Their beautiful and meaning-filled finished products are works of art.

In the telling of the Wedding Day story, ask your photographer to be sure to include the signs at your ceremony and reception sites. Having those locations identified through photos not only helps tell the story, but it will be a help in years to come when you try to recall the names of the venues. After all, these special places play an important part in one of the highlights of your family’s life.

And believe it or not, MOB, a good photographer can even make photos of signs look artistic. So scope out your venues and give your photographer a heads-up about the locations of the signs. Be a part of telling the whole story!

A Keepsake Photo of the Wedding Invitation

Mother of the Bride, here’s a keepsake photo that’s easy to forget on Wedding Day: the wedding invitation. The photographer will snap shots of the programs, the tent cards for the tables at the reception, and place cards for the bride and groom, but if a copy of the wedding invitation is not on hand on the big day, chances are you’ll miss getting a professional photo of it.

In the photo above, I love how the wedding invitation is featured along with the bride’s rings and shoes. What a beautiful shot capturing these precious elements of a once-in-a-lifetime day!

MOB, don’t let the invitation get overlooked. Take a moment right now to add it to the list of shots you’d like the photographer to take. You and your sweet couple will be glad you did!

Wedding Day “Just Married” Photo Idea

Mother of the Bride, has your sweet couple asked their photographer to take a fun “Just Married” photo after their ceremony? If not, throw the idea out there and then brainstorm a few possible shots with them.

I love the shot above because it’s simple to do and captures the joy and more relaxed atmosphere that takes over once the ceremony is over. Decide on a spot for the photo and arrange for the “Just Married” thought bubble to be chalked ahead of time to keep the Wedding Day photo session moving along. Have the groom shed his jacket and the bride remove her veil to help create a fun and casual feel. The smiles and love will shine through naturally.

Why not show the bride and groom this shot, MOB, and see if they’d like to add it to their Wedding Day memories. It would be a darling photo for all of you to frame, too!

Wedding Photos with the Happy Couple as Background

Looking for great wedding photo ideas, Mother of the Bride? See if the photographer could capture a few with the bride and groom in bokeh effect (an out of focus blur effect), using them as the background of a shot of something or someone else in the wedding.

The happy-couple-as-background bokeh shot above is actually a shot of the chair décor, but notice how having the bride and groom in a soft blur as a backdrop not only makes the shot artsy but extra special as well. This particular photographic remembrance of sunflowers as the chair décor for the wedding is so much more interesting and gorgeous than a simple straightforward shot of the chair and its adornment, isn’t it?

Possibilities abound for photos using this bride and groom bokeh effect. In addition to chair or pew décor as the focus of the shot, the photographer could also use the cake, champagne glasses, the parents of the bride and/or groom, the gift table, or a floral arrangement as the focal point of the shot. The ideas can go on and on.

So, MOB, talk with your daughter and see if she’d like to talk bride and groom bokeh with the photographer. Beauty awaits!
