Use Engagement Photo for Bridal Shower Invitation

3603572456_1c7fcaf33f_oMother of the Bride, are you helping plan a bridal shower for your daughter? Or do you know the girls planning the shower well enough to make a suggestion? If so, here’s an idea you might want to pass along—or incorporate into your own plans if you’re one of the hostesses.

Why not use one of the engagement photos on the invitation? The photo on the invitation above is fairly small, but I’ve seen a bridal shower invite done that uses the entire top half of the invite to feature the engagement photo. The details of the shower were then listed beneath it.

I love this idea—how about you? Not only does it make the invitation gorgeous and meaningful, but it utilizes the expense for the engagement photos in one more way. Gotta love that, right, MOB?

Wedding Day Photo Idea: Sunset Silhouette

23247205609_2f03491a1e_zWhat time of day is your darling daughter tying the knot, Mother of the Bride? If the nuptials are scheduled for late afternoon or early evening, she and her dashing groom will have a super special photo opportunity they can take advantage of if they alert their photographer to their wishes.

Have the happy couple tell their photographer they’d like him or her to take a sunset silhouette shot of their big day. If the photographer knows ahead of time, he’ll be able to scope out the best location for such a shot at or near their ceremony or reception venue.

Everything will work together to make this an absolutely gorgeous shot—the location, the couple, the setting sun, the romance. Wow, this will definitely be a keeper shot, huh?

So MOB, don’t delay—share this great photo idea with your sweet girl pronto. I predict a couple of more-than-willing participants!

Coordinate Colorful Bride’s Shoes with Groom’s Socks!

17338797778_f8e2485e13_z

Mother of the Bride, I’ve talked about colorful shoes for the bride and fun socks for the groom here on the blog before so why not coordinate them for extra fun?

Not only will that extra attention to detail add to the bride’s and groom’s delight in the day, it will make for a great memory and a super fun photo as well. Isn’t the shot above adorable? A bride and groom who will coordinate their shoes and socks are quite a pair (pun intended!) already, aren’t they?

So show this photo to your happy couple, MOB, and see if they are up for this kind of shoe and sock zaniness. If it fits their personalities at all, they’ll be glad to let a bit of their fun-loving spirits loose through their feet on Wedding Day. Let the fun begin!

Most Important Part of the Bride’s Attire

DSC_7032

Mother of the Bride, your daughter’s attire on her big dream-come-true day will most likely be of prime importance to you both and will take center shopping stage until every piece of it is selected and properly rejoiced over. Just the right gown tops the list, with a perfectly complementing veil and/or headpiece not far behind. Finding gorgeous shoes and deciding on jewelry are also important decisions. Even undergarments get special attention.

But the most important part of her attire on Wedding Day—the thing that will really shine—is love. The love she has for her groom shining in her eyes and on her face will be the thing that makes her truly beautiful. Oh, her attire will certainly add to her beauty, but it will be her loving expressions that the groom and everyone else will remember from that special day. This truth reminds me of a truth expressed in 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible—if we have not love, we are nothing. (my paraphrase)

So MOB, remind your sweet girl to, yes, select her attire carefully and with great joy, but to remember to relax and simply love. Then she will truly shine on her big day. And everyone will rejoice with her—and with you all!

Wedding Registry to Consider: Sur La Table!

3384439742_f141ff993a_z

Mother of the Bride, when it comes time to register, your sweet girl might want to consider Sur La Table for one of her registries—especially if she and/or her groom love to cook and spend time in the kitchen. A cooking specialty store like Sur La Table will surely hit the spot for them, right?

The Sur La Table website has all kinds of registry helps: Creating, Finding, and Managing a Registry, Top Registry Gifts, Reasons to Register, Tips and Guides, information on Special Registry Events, and also a Gift Registry Concierge to assist you. You can receive help in the store, by phone, or online.

Sur La Table also offers free gifts for the couple. Some they’ll get just for registering and others they’ll qualify for after items from their registries are purchased. Sounds like a sweet deal to me!

So MOB, if your Mr. & Mrs.-to-be plan to cook up more than passion after they’re married, why not send them over to Sur La Table? They might even thank you by inviting you over for dinner sometime!
